Important Update on MBHWA Water System Challenges
September 08, 2025
Dear MBHWA Customers,
We want to be transparent about the serious issues affecting our water system. Many of you have experienced poor water pressure, complete service outages, and repeated Boil Water Orders. These disruptions are not isolated—they reflect deeper, ongoing problems.
Our water system is over 50 years old and in significant disrepair. We’re currently facing at least two major line breaks per week, in addition to thousands of small, undetectable leaks throughout the network. As a result, MBHWA is purchasing three times more water than customers actually consume—a costly and unsustainable situation.
Critical Area: Will Jones Road
One of the most affected zones is Will Jones Road. A recent landslide destroyed a major feeder line, and while a temporary bypass was installed, it can no longer meet demand—leading to persistent low pressure in the area.
Ongoing Efforts to Resolve
For the past year, we’ve partnered with Engineering Services to identify a new route to restore reliable water supply to the south end of Will Jones Road. This process included working closely with several property owners to secure the necessary rights-of-way.
Unfortunately, some of those owners have recently withdrawn their consent, preventing us from crossing their land.
We understand how frustrating these disruptions are and deeply appreciate your patience. Our team remains committed to finding long-term solutions that restore reliable service and protect our shared resources.
